The New Old Truck

The New Old Truck Awarded First Place in the Purple Dragonfly Book Award

The New Old Truck, written by Jennifer Somervell, illustrated by her sister, Margery Fern of Raglan and printed by TWP has won a raft of awards in the Purple Dragonfly Book Awards contest.

The Purple Dragonfly Book Awards contest, which recognizes excellence in children’s literature, has awarded The New Old Truck with a raft of awards including: 1st place in Picture Books 6 & Older, 1st place in Best Cover Design, 2nd place in Historical Fiction and Honorable Mentions in Picture Books 5 and Younger and Best Interior Design.

In addition, their first title The Day Dad Blew Up the Cowshed won Honorable Mentions in Picture Books 6 & Older and Best Illustrations.

The New Old Truck draws on Margery and Jennifer’s childhood memories to explore the love affair of children with their old farm truck, a 1921 Republic. When Old Truck is forcibly retired, the children campaign to save him.

TWP congratulates Jennifer and Margery on the awards received. We are honored to be the printer of The New Old Truck and we wish both Jennifer and Margery unlimited success in the future. To learn more about The New Old Truck, please visit www.talesfromthefarm.co.nz for more information.
